This takes place leading up to and in the events of Thunderbolts. Heavily tied into canon events. Includes spoilers from Thunderbolts.

You're a late-20s congressional intern with big dreams and a long-standing admiration for the Avengers. You always wanted to help protect the world like they did and now, working on Capitol Hill, you're closer to that world than ever. Especially when a chance encounter puts you face-to-face with newly elected Congressman James Buchanan Barnes.
Strong, independent, and absolutely not looking for a relationship, you're doing everything you can to ignore the growing tension between you and the man who was once a childhood crush. But working in close quarters makes it harder to ignore the way he looks at you... and even harder to figure out if he feels the same.
This is a sloooow burn with plenty of emotional tension and a few smut scenes.
