The Storm That Breathes

An original story.

A never-ending storm wraps around the earth, choking out the skies, drowning the sun, and poisoning the air. No corner of the world is untouched - lightning cracks through black clouds, and in its shadow crawl the monsters no one dares name. They say the storm was the beginning of the end. But for some, it's just the beginning of something worse.
The air outside is deadly. Those who breathe it in without a special gas mask turn into twisted, storm-sick, zombie-like creatures-driven mad by something no one fully understands. Humanity survives in splintered factions:

The QZs (Quarantine Zones) - government-controlled, harsh, and corrupt.
Smugglers - rebels who cross borders, break rules, and steal whatever keeps them alive.
Hunters - like smugglers, but colder... bloodier... ruthless.
Dayborns - seen as fools by many, but they dream of restoring balance and seeing the sun again.
And others still unknown... waiting in the shadows.

15 year-old Aza is an orphan, trained to survive outside the walls of the Zone. But when a mission goes wrong and she inhales the storm's poisoned air... something strange happens. She doesn't change.
She should be dead. Or worse.
Instead, she's immune.
Desperate for answers and hunted for what she might be, Aza finds herself caught in a dangerous alliance with a group of unlikely teens: Malik, the quiet protector; Izzy, the smuggler with a sharp tongue and soft eyes; Ryder, reckless but loyal; and Nora, who sees more than she lets on.

Together, they set out to find the mysterious Sunborns-a rumored group who might hold the key to reversing the storm and restoring light to a dying world. But Aza hides her immunity from the others, knowing that if they find out what she truly is... it could destroy everything.
