The Heir and his Blade

In the ancient kingdom of Velmara, humans and fae once lived in harmony beneath the watchful stars, their lives intertwined by trust, trade, and the shared wonder of magic. The land thrived under the rule of a wise and just king and queen, whose love brought forth a daughter-radiant, kind, and gifted. Yet tradition held firm: only a son could inherit the crown and continue the royal line.

As the pressure to produce a male heir mounted, the king, desperate and fearful of unrest, turned to the one force that could grant him what fate had not-magic. With the aid of the fae, a spell was cast to ensure the birth of a son. But magic, bound by balance, demands a price.

Shattered by grief and guilt, the king denounced the very magic he once embraced. The fae were blamed, cast out of Velmara, and magic was outlawed.
