"So desperate that you've actually started studying hard just to get on my level, huh?" His words weren't a question. They were clearly a taunt.

She turned her face away, refusing to let him see the storm brewing in her eyes but he wasn't satisfied with silence.

He tilted her chin up with a rough coax and asked with a cruel voice,"Answer me, Vika. Itna desperation?"

She jerked his hand off, forcing the words past the lump in her throat,"I'm not doing it to get you. I'm doing it to secure myself-"

He leaned closer, cutting her off with a poisonous smirk and said,"Oh yeah, right. Secure your future... because you want to marry me, isn't it?"

The accusation cracked something inside her. The tears she had been fighting burned hot as they spilled down, betraying the strength she tried so hard to hold.

He only smirked wider, watching her crumble as though her breaking was the prize he had been chasing all along.
