On the 3rd of September 1945, every single human being in the world woke up with a soul mark. This was a tattoo that symbolised when you were going to meet your soulmate.
The greatest minds at that time did everything they could to figure out where the tattoos were from, but none were successful. All they knew is that soulmates could be platonic or romantic, and that there was a small chance of something very strange happening.
There were reports of soulmates gaining... powers. Only very few have ever seen this strange phenomenon.
Despite the limited knowledge of these tattoos, there have been some theories. The most prevalent theory is that the tattoos were given to humans to show them the power of love. A bit cheesy, but plausible since they appeared the day after World One 2 officially ended.
Even after all of this, life has continued normally. In 2025 however, the whole world is about to get a shock nobody could have prepared for.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away.
