In the gritty, hopeful expanse of the "Stars Without Borders" universe, *Broken Orbit* introduces Rae Jacobs, a transgender woman and brilliant engineer, rebuilding her life among the stars after a devastating loss. Haunted by a past she left behind on a crowded Core World station, Rae finds herself unexpectedly thrust into the dangerous underbelly of interstellar trade. Aboard the aging freighter *The Indira*, she must master not only her complex engineering skills, but also the treacherous currents of human relationships. When a seemingly routine job turns deadly, Rae's quiet strength is tested as she confronts corporate greed, illicit smuggling, and the moral ambiguities of survival. This isn't just a story of escape; it's a gripping tale of reinvention, where a woman forged in grief discovers the power of found family and the courage to fight for a more just galaxy-one wrench, one jump, one hard-won connection at a time. Prepare for a journey across the cosmos and into the heart of one woman's incredible resilience.

Stray Humans by AlphaKitten1974

It's been almost a hundred years since Earth's civilizations fell, leaving only ruins and memories. Long before the collapse, they began taking humans, but now, everyone knows who they are and they fear them. The few who manage to return from their captivity tell stories of how these creatures treat humans like animals or children, tending to them like pets or slaves. Most survivors live in hidden cities, avoiding the ancient ruined cities at all costs. But not Jace and his crew. As a group of Stray Humans, they've made the decaying cities their home, roaming the forgotten streets, never staying in one place for long, and bringing all their skills to the table. They are a family, working together to make sure those things, Aliens, never take another human as long as they are near. When the aliens of A.C.R. (Animal Care and Rescue) find a new group of humans wandering the ruins of a large city, they think it will be an easy capture. But they soon learn that these particular humans have more willpower than most. They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets. No matter the cost. Warning - This story may have -Self harm -Rape -Abuse -Suicidal thoughts and actions -Violence and gore -Uncomfortable scenes (If this isn't your first alien pet book, you know what I'm talking about)
