For a hundred years, humanity has been a species at war with itself. Those who fled a withering Earth to conquer the stars formed the Union of Space Colonies (U.S.C.), a technologically superior force whose power is enforced by its military arm, The Cathedral.

Left behind, the fragmented nations of Earth have been fighting a losing battle, their armies and their hope dwindling with each passing decade. Their soldiers, piloting massive war machines called M.M.U.s, are consistently outmatched by the U.S.C.'s might.

But now, the balance of power is about to shift. In a final, desperate act, the last free governments of Earth have united to form Aegis, a coalition created for one purpose: to be the shield against the storm from the stars.

Fueled by a mysterious new technology and a generation of pilots who have known nothing but war, the gigantic theater of conflict is set for its final, most brutal act. The century-long dominance of the colonies is about to be challenged, and the future of humanity will be decided in a war fought between the blue skies of Earth and the endless darkness of space.
