After months of gig-work and fruitless job hunting, Noah Clark receives a mysterious letter from the Department of Defense, activating his selective service number for an undisclosed government position. One transcontinental flight later, he finds himself on the road in the barren American Southwest being chauffeured by a strange woman in black to an unknown destination.
