Moxie met Aleksandr when she was 17 and he was 18 when he was an exchange student from Russia to Oak Grove High School in Denver, Colorado. Aleksandr falls in love but understands why Moxie doesn't want to be with him at the end of the school year. He's moving back to Russia, so the distance would be too much for her. The last time they saw each other was the last day of school for them. Aleksandr makes the promise that he'll get her one way or another in 9 years.
Now she is 26 and working at her mother's cafe in Glendwood Springs, Colorado. Moxie is thriving. Forgetting the promise Aleksandr made to her.
