Twenty years ago, nine little girls were taken from the false comfort of their homes. The same day, the same time, the same scenario. It went under the radar for one simple reason: each girl was taken from a different country, leaving their respective authorities completely in the dark.

Ten years ago, only three girl remained alive, and nine more girls were taken.

Two years ago, as another girl died at His hands, too weak to fight against His torturous machinations, too young to truly understand the detached hatred in His eyes, just smart enough to make sure her death took something from Him too, four girls took their chance to run.

And they did.

Until one of them found herself witness to a bombing, turning heads and impressing minds as she becomes key to finding the perpetrator, landing herself a job invitation at the FBI's Behaviour Analysis Unit, effectively putting her back on His radar.

But, perhaps this was a chance to stop Him once and for all, no more running, no more hiding. And, perhaps giving a little trust to a team of the best minds in the FBI would lead to a safe place to finally rest, to finally breathe. . . to finally fall in love.

Only after an age of suffering though, for a Horseman, even a run-away; even a failed one, is made through pain.
