Victory was supposed to mean freedom. But for Kaela Rynn, it only built a bigger cage.

Months after surviving the 66th Hunger Games, Kaela Rynn-District 5's reluctant victor-is still haunted by what the Capitol took from her. Her older brother, Jace, was reaped alongside her and never came home. The screams, the traps, the electricity that betrayed him-it all echoes in her mind.

The Capitol wants her quiet. Controlled. Dressed in silk and forced smiles. But Kaela is starting to unravel. Until someone sees through the performance.

Finnick Odair. The Capitol's golden boy. A fellow victor. A fellow prisoner.

They meet on the windswept coast of District 4, where his charm masks the same scars she hides. In one brief conversation, Finnick gives Kaela something no one else ever has-permission to feel broken, and the courage to rise anyway. He sees her pain not as weakness, but as power. And he teaches her that surviving doesn't have to mean surrendering.

But as power surges ripple through the districts and encrypted messages begin arriving from unknown rebels, Kaela realizes the Games aren't over. The Capitol has found new ways to control and torment its victors-and she might be the next weapon in their arsenal.

The ghosts of the arena are whispering again. And this time, they're calling her to action.

In a world where grief is dangerous and silence is deadly, Kaela must decide who she is without the arena-and who she's willing to become to destroy it.

From the treaty of the Treason: In penance for their uprising, each district shall offer up a male and female between the ages of 12 and 18 at a public "Reaping". These tributes shall be delivered to the custody of The Capitol. And then transferred to a public arena where they will fight to the death, until a lone victor remains. Henceforth and forevermore this pageant shall be known as The Hunger Games. You would think that with three entries in a bowl filled with a thousand of other names the odds would be in your favour, right? Wrong. The odds are never in your favour. -Finnick Odair X OC- Book One |Slow burn| Ever since Finnick Odair won the 65th Hunger Games at age 14, District Four has not only been praising him for his skill, but also themselves for preparing him so well. In order to showcase the District's talent and strength, they selected a young protege to volunteer for the 67th Hunger Games. Disclaimer- I don't own The Hunger Games or the characters in the books. Obviously they're owned by Suzanne Collins. I only own the characters I created and the arena I designed. I will not take credit for anything Suzanne Collins came up with and published because it's all hers. I just wanted to make all of that clear. I'm just a big fan of the series and the movies. Warning: This is the hunger games, so there will be killing and death.
