Zara Evangeline Sterling, a fourth-year chemical engineering student at the prestigious but pressure-cooker Northbridge Institute of Technology, is used to solving problems-chemical equations, reactor simulations, late-night lab reports. What she isn't used to? Being involved in a real-life murder.
A student's untimely death in the lab building causes shockwaves on campus, but the school administration quickly denies it as a tragic accident. End of story.
But Zara doesn't buy it. The individual who was victimized was a reserved, high-functioning person and her former lab partner, who had exhibited no errors in the laboratory. Furthermore, the chemical inventory report from that evening had an odd odor of acetone and something... off. It was quite strange indeed.
In the absence of a criminology department on campus and without any official backing, Zara takes matters to her own hands by combining her analytical mind, chemical intelligence knowledge, and unexpected friends from her research group.
She uncovers a mysterious "ghost thesis" that was supposedly buried years ago.
Her digging deep reveals her to someone that she already encountered. In a campus with overcrowded classrooms and fiercely competitive professors, who would kill to protect a secret?

This is a project I am working on for the spooky season because I thought it would be fun to write a camp murder mystery involving my friends. I created the basic plot structure with 13 main character slots and then sent out character sheets that were completed by my friends. They were asked to pick a random number, and the number they chose corresponded to one of the 13 character routes. So, if you have a problem with any of the characters, take it up with them. I was taking a late night stroll through my neighborhood. I felt the cold wind blowing lightly in my face as I put the hood to my jacket over my head. I guess you could say that Liam is the "leader" of the group because they do whatever he says and seem a bit afraid of him. As I turned around to start walking again I felt a grab and pull on my arm. A fiery like pain struck the part of my arm that was grabbed. "Ow fuck-" I was turned around to see Liam up close to me. He pushed me up against the gate that was blocking out the forest.
