The wolf comes at night, a looming beast with glowing eyes. The howl is unmistakable, a forlorn wail that resounds in the Ozark backwoods for miles, startling those who hear it. The people of the Osage reservation have taken to locking their doors and windows during the full moon, but after the Blood Moon Massacre, the upcoming lunar eclipse leaves the tribe feeling ill at ease. When the tribal leader's granddaughter returns with a series of scars trailing down her spine, the Osage people have no choice but to ask intervention from outsiders.

Across the Atlantic, the tribe's plight has caught the attention of aspiring paranormal analyst Niall Horan. He's eager to round up a team of investigators and get his hands dirty in the Missourian soil, but it's seeming an impossible task when the research team receives less enthusiasm than anticipated. Niall's only hope and last resort comes in the form of his flatmate, accounting major and non-believer Harry Styles. Against his better judgment, he reluctantly signs on for the project, and what he finds in the Missouri hills is evidence enough to make any skeptic believe.
