In the twilight of the Years of the Trees, as Valinor shimmers with the last light of Laurelin and Telperion, a shadow rises that will change the fate of Elves forever.

Aranion, Prince of the Vanyar and second only to his father Ingwë-the High King of all Elves-is thrust into the heart of an unfolding tragedy. Sent as his father's emissary to a great feast meant to reconcile the divided houses of the Noldor, Aranion witnesses a catastrophe that shakes the very foundations of Aman: the murder of the Two Trees and the coming of the Long Darkness. In a single night, peace is shattered, trust is broken, and the Valar themselves are left grieving and uncertain.

But Aranion sees what others do not: that this Doom-the curse that will drive the Noldor to exile, to Kinslaying, and to endless sorrow-is not an unchangeable fate, but a chain that might yet be broken.
