Plot Summary:
Eli Carter, 26, is a stoic, hardworking cowboy running his late father's ranch in the small town of Coyote Ridge, Texas. He lives a quiet, dusty life full of sunrises, stubborn cattle, and country silence. He doesn't talk much about the past-and definitely not about the fact that he's gay in a place where that can still feel dangerous.
Jules Moreno, 24, is a flamboyant, snarky social media manager from Chicago who's sent to Texas on forced leave after a workplace meltdown (okay, he might've thrown a latte at his boss). Burned out and out of options, Jules agrees to stay with his estranged aunt-who just so happens to be neighbors with Eli.
When Jules shows up in tight jeans, a rhinestone jacket, and an attitude that could set dry grass on fire, Eli is unimpressed. Jules is loud, fussy, and knows absolutely nothing about the country. But when his aunt breaks her leg, Jules volunteers to help Eli on the ranch in exchange for room and board.
What starts as constant bickering-"Those boots are for fashion, not function" / "At least I know how to moisturize!"-slowly turns into long conversations under starry skies, lingering looks while working in the fields, and quiet understanding. Eli teaches Jules how to ride, how to listen to the land-and Jules teaches Eli how to open up, take chances, and stop hiding.
But as summer ends, Jules is offered a major job back in the city. Eli's never left Texas. Can a cowboy and a city boy find a place where they both belong?
A down to earth cowboy with a past is thrown into the supernatural world, when he falls for a vampire who has demons of his own.
Daryl's a bullfighter on the national circuit, stretching his pay check as far as it will go between himself and his brother's farm back in Texas. He also has the misfortune of being incredibly unlucky in love and stumbles into the wrong bar trying to forget a night he can only half remember.
The bartender tells him to not go looking for trouble, but amongst the dark shadows and beautiful faces, it finds him in the form of Ryker.
Ryker isn't known for being a nice guy. He's got a line that most people would believe is too malleable, but he is one of the good guys. Always shooting off his mouth at the wrong time or getting himself into fights he should avoid (but can handle) he sees the cowboy and goes in search of a fight.
But neither man is prepared for the battle of wills and emotions that ensue from their broken attempts at understanding whatever it is that draws them together time and again. The more Daryl is drawn into Ryker's dark world, the more obvious it is that the Cowboy's half forgotten past may be more related to the shadow games and machinations of the very agency that has been trying to kill Ryker and the rest of the supernatural world for decades now.
Mature themes. Violence, Swears.
