on the contrary, this was exactly how he was supposed to die. no matter how many times Merlin had saved him, he was just delaying the inevitable truth.
- Arthur pendragon would always die by mordred's hand, he'd die in agony.
and Merlin would always be too late, left to wander the earth and carry the weight of his soulmates absence.

Falling for You
Merthur AU (angel!Merlin and human!Arthur). Merlin is a young angel and doesn't understand many things. When he discovers a pond in heaven through which he can see Earth though, everything changes. For the first time, he sees a human - Arthur Pendragon. And from that moment he knows that he wants to protect him. When Arthur is in danger, Merlin accidentally ends up on Earth while trying to help him. Now he must stay in Camelot and befriend Arthur until other angels find him and bring him home. Their growing love is forbidden though. What can Merlin do now? Leave and never talk to Arthur again or stay and die? This was my first Merthur AU, written in August 2017. The story is set in season 1 during 1x04 The Poisoned Chalice. Merlin speaks Latin a bit (but I have like zero experience with that language so I used an online translator). What's worse is that all his protests seem to fall on deaf ears. Arthur doesn't exactly have the best history with manservants. And it seems like this one with Merlin is going to be shorter and worse than most. It is not just that he is forgetful, or disappears for days on end, but it seems like he had no grasp of common human behaviour. But despite everything, they manage to forge a friendship, and one night, long-kept secrets are revealed, pledges and sacrifices made, and a new era birthed.Terminé
