Xander Forbes is the adopted son of Caroline Forbes who found the boy when he was no older than 3 even than she was surprised how he could still be alive, sitting all alone in a cave with nothing more guarding him than a group of lionesses. The flash of blackness that took over the boys eyes before he changed into a cub left her even more confused.
What was he? Who was he? Why would he be here, all alone with no one to look after him? She took the child and took him back with her to Mystics Falls. They all knew right there he was powerful but still the questions remained where did he come from? Who where his parents and why did they leave him there to fend for himself. After looking for months and finding no answers Caroline decided to adopt the boy she named Alexander but most people known him as Xander.
