A Chicago lawyer overwhelmed by life seeks refuge at her uncle's peaceful ranch in Tennessee. Trading city lights for the countryside, she expects peace, maybe even clarity. She definitely doesn't expect Jackson Banks, her cousin's brooding best friend. Jackson has never met someone quite like Grace. She is bright, talkative, all sunshine. She's everything he's not, and everything he can't stop thinking about. As summer goes by, their unexpected connection grows into something deeper. Grace has a big decision to take: follow the path she always planned or take a leap of faith toward the life she never saw coming.

Summers are supposed to be that time of the year that you should look forward to. No school, hours at the beach, late night parties. What's not to love? Three words. My neighbor's grandson. For once in her life, Maliah Arias is looking forward to her summer. It's the summer before senior year and life couldn't be better. She has a hot college boyfriend, plenty of Dl soccer scholarship offers, and she just went through a massive glow up. To make matters better, her neighbor's annoying yet very hot grandson, Jackson Cruz, who usually visits every summer, is away in Europe. When circumstances change, Maliah finds herself once again in the presence of Jackson, who seems hell-bent on making her life miserable. Although as time passes, the two of them find themselves growing closer and closer, whether they like it or not. Tears are shed, hearts are broken, and Maliah finds herself wondering if she'll be able to survive the summer and make it to senior year.
