Augustine Ives was convinced for many years that even her own shadow could accomplish more than she could, standing out in moments when she felt it impossible. Auggie loved her work-she couldn't have more grateful for the fulfilling opportunity. But when work was over, when the day ended, when she sat alone in the bedroom of a loft with high, echoey walls... the weight of her self-sustained sorrow pressed down on her.

Michael Jackson, an intelligent but maladroit Senior Game Developer at Hollowark, had seen plenty of interns come and go. Most moved on to bigger studios, few stuck around at the mid-tier establishment. It only made it harder for the already awkward man to connect with people he could never be sure would stay long enough to give him a chance to.

But with Auggie, he felt a kind of pull towards her that he'd never experienced. She was beautiful, stylish, soft-spoken, reserved... a bit awkward like him, a result of her diffidence. Not quite as much, but enough to make him feel seen and understood.

Unknowingly, he'd pull her out of the hard shell she built around herself, and in the process show her how worthy she was of friendship, love, and all the between. With time, patience, and good intentions, their bond would flourish into an intimacy neither of them had ever imagined they'd achieve.
