The Little Siren

A darker version of The Little Mermaid.

Siren is an albino mermaid, cast out the moment she was born. Her horrified father discarded her into the waves the second he saw her 'defect' but her mother...her mother gave her the gift of changing forms, knowing this unique mer-child would need it to survive. But Siren soon finds out that she has many more gifts than just the one that her mother gave her. She learns that she can lure any male kind to do her pleasing with just her songs. It is because of this gift that she is cast out again and again, all mermaids and pods terrified of this gift, the first of its kind. So she spends her life in between land and sea, unwanted and feared by both because of her albinism and songs.

The pirate king who lives out on the sea, robbing people of their riches and hunting down mermaids, particularly one who lured his mates to drown at see with just her voice. Mercy is a foreign word to Astrophel as he learned from his superiors growing up. At least until a storm bigger than anything he's ever seen hits his boat, tossing him into the sea to drown. And he's perfectly content with this way of dying until a woman pulls him from the raging waves. A woman with a voice that you would do anything for.
