The last time Ian was in California was the day the love of his life Jaķe Houser, was buried. Twelve years after Jake's death, Ian is no closer to recovery. Despite graduating with the highest recorded CGPA and being the youngest teaching assistant at Princeton University, Ian has no friends, drinks like a fish, is prone to crashing out, sleeps away his sorrows and has a pretty bad temper. Not to mention his weekend stash of weed. When Jake's murderer dies in prison and Ian is forced to go back to California to face the life he ran away from, Ian soon learns that you cannot outrun your own ghosts. As the ever present memories of Jake surround him and Hansel, a cute news reporter doing an investigative piece on Jake's death, starts to pull at his heart strings, Ian is about to discover that grief delayed is not grief denied.

Raised by cold parents who never offered him a glimpse of affection, Kai dedicated his life to earning the love he never received at home. Successful in his studies and devoted to his passions, he found a romance that ultimately shattered him, coupled with the harsh realization that he had failed and that his parents would never acknowledge him. A year after his graduation, Kai felt lost and unsure of how to chart his path forward. Clinging to the one person who had never left his side, he resolved to confront the traumas that haunted him. He never anticipated that the person who would help him the most would be someone he had met right at the beginning of his journey. SMALL EXCLAIMER/ The story doesn't visually describe sexual scenes. There are just a few makeout scenes. The first few chapters are describing a person who is slightly depressed and some light anxiety behaviour situations. It is not a heavy book. The characters are not abusive. The relationships are healthy, and I hope my book is as positive and easy to read as I wanted it to be. However, for some people can be triggering as there are mentions of anxiety and social awkwardness.
