Long ago, dragons ruled not by dominion, but by devotion.

Bound by a sacred Pledge, they chose to share their wisdom with humankind-not as masters, but as guardians. Through fire, they taught men to build, to protect, to rise. And when a dragon fulfilled their duty, their soul was said to become a star.

But the skies have not brightened in many seasons.

Theredral, a black-scaled dragon just beyond his prime, still walks the old path. Patient, deliberate, and fiercely wise, he remains an advisor to the king-a living relic of an age that believes the Pledge endures. Yet shadows stir beneath the walls of peace: border camps fall silent, ancient symbols return in ash, and doubt moves like smoke among the kin.

Then a knight arrives from the eastern wilds.
