One time thing

Mavis Spence, a 22-year-old artist and writer, is ready to be on her own. Her younger brother Nikalus has been battling childhood leukemia for years, and as his condition worsens, home becomes harder to bear. She loves him deeply, but watching him fade away is more than she can take. The problem is, independence isn't cheap and with little income, she can't afford to move out alone. Her best friend Alyson suggests she look for a roommate, and though hesitant, Mavis agrees.

Taylor Bran, 24, is interning to become a pediatric surgeon. With high-achieving parents who run their own law firm, she grew up surrounded by wealth but she's determined to make her own way. Between student loans and mounting expenses, she realizes her independence comes with a steep cost. Her best friend Kimberly nudges her toward getting a roommate, and with no better options, Taylor takes the plunge.
