The first book in the children of the elements series.
July 23, 1958: Diana Perry’s log
As I walk down my driveway, I can’t help but wonder, when is this so-called war going to occur. The weather was beautiful, the birds chirped about, and most of all there was no disturbance to be heard for miles with no end. Just the summer breeze, blowing through all of the trees. My finger traces the graceful flower as it dances in sync to the winds pattern and balance.
But suddenly a crash is heard from my mother’s home. As I sprint up the driveway, I realize, the events leading up to the war are happening. But the strange thing was how early the events were occurring. But I knew what I had to do. It would be the riskiest task I have ever been asked to accomplish.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of fire churning and it was the worst sound ever made. I ignored the horrid sound and ran through the blazing house to try to find my mother and Elliot, my younger brother. The fire burned my skin as the monster shot a fireball towards me. Luckily, I dodged the ball enough to not be roasted alive. However, the monster stopped. I took a peek and my brother Elliot was distracting it.
My mother was across the room and she signaled me to run across the room and help her finish the process. My mother mixed the sage with the newt, whilst I ran to the cupboard and grabbed a hunting knife. My mother gave me thumbs up to finish all of the work she started. As I took the sacred blade and stuck it inside the monster once I got close enough.
My mother watched as the monster fell forward. I gave a her a look of asking for approval and she nodded then she stuck a knife into me.
As I left I realized I will be born again to a new era and I will help with all of my powers of the water to protect the world that I love. In a matter of 40 years I will be the water child. Then my world was engulfed by darkness only to be greeted by light.
