You Said I Mattered. Then You Left.

This isn't a story.
It's a message I never sent. About someone who never really left, not in my chest anyway.

He said I made a difference in his life.
He said I mattered.
He told me not to be too hard on myself.

Then he was gone.

I didn't get to respond. So this is what I would've said.
