Needles, serums, guns, and violence; all the hallmarks of her childhood, everything that raised her, shaped her, marked her. The laboratory they formed her in personified, cracked and scarred.

Angry and violent, that is who she is. Raised voices and sharp hands moulded her, so raised voices and sharp hands are all she knows. If someone could mellow her out, she'd only describe it as a miracle, or maybe not. Without her anger, without her punches, she doesn't know who she'd be. Maybe she wouldn't be anyone.

And so, when that person comes along, when someone finally tries to undo what has been drilled into her, she has to decide whether it's worth it, whether it's worth losing everything she's known as herself for so long to maybe become someone else, someone better.

MISS AMERICA - marvel

15 parts Ongoing

Seven-year-old Aurora has spent most of her life in the foster care system, bouncing from home to home, leaving behind a trail of anger and broken furniture. She fights everyone - other kids, foster parents, even the social workers. But when she's placed for adoption, it's not with another ordinary family. S.H.I.E.L.D. has made their decision: Aurora is now the legal responsibility of Captain America himself. Neither of them wants this. Steve, forced into the situation by S.H.I.E.L.D., is furious about being saddled with a kid he never asked for. Aurora, convinced that no one ever truly stays, refuses to trust him - or anyone. Their first meeting ends in a screaming match, and things only go downhill from there. But as much as they push each other away, neither one is allowed to leave. And when Steve gets a visit from a friend from his past, stuck together, they'll have to figure out if family is something you're born into-or something you fight for.
