In this continuation of Pages Unfolding, River is now a saxophone player and a track star, with too much on their shoulders and a body they're learning to trust again. While Willow has become quiet artist discovering her own voice-and finding it sometimes sounds like River's laugh.
When absent-minded seizures return for the first time since childhood, River's world begins to blur at the edges. And Willow, who's only just started drawing herself into the future, finds that every sketch includes River's hand in hers.
They didn't expect to seriously fall this hard for each other, not at the worst possible moment they believe. But now that they have, together, they learn how to hold each other through uncertainty-hospital visits, missed meals, a thousand almost-breakdowns-slowly and gently, with enough care to still fill the cracks.
The ache didn't ruin them.
It revealed them.
