Some dreams fade when you wake. Others wait for the right moment to return.
(y/n) spent her teenage years being tormented by the same recurring nightmare: a man with too-wide eyes and a grotesque smile. Despite her pleas, no one believed her. The only place where she obtained any sort of solace took place on an obscure web forum called NetPhobia. Here, (y/n) found strangers with similar experiences.
Now a college psychology major, (y/n) has found stability and put the website behind her, as her nightmarish sleep paralysis has diminished- that is, until her final project pushes her back into the world she tried so hard to escape. Tasked with exploring an individual for a case study, she decides to revisit NetPhobia to find a unique patient. However, what starts as research quickly turns into something darker. She soon discovers not only has the forum not changed- but neither has the presence once after her.
As strange dreams begin to take place once more, with the familiar eyes watching her from mirror, windows, and shadows, (y/n) comes to realize the nightmare never left her.
It was waiting for her return.

I wasn't sure what love was. Everyone spoke of it like a legend. Something sacred that you'd capture if you were lucky. The man I had let take my heart wanted to carve it out of my chest as proof. I tried to forget feeling that way about him. I tried to figure out why I could ever love someone like him. He terrified me but at moments it was like a roller coaster.
