Each essay is something controversial because, for some reason, decency should be common sense, yet somehow, it feels rare. That's why I write, because these issues plague my mind daily, and silence is not an option.
Not sure how many essays I'll write, but I'll find a topic and write about it. I realize that speaking on this type of stuff will probably attract haters, but like I said in YAP-A-LOTS, you'll either hate me or love me. But you'll do it for who I am. I'm not hiding from this.
This is... Zaya Unmasked.
I chose this name to ease people into my perspective. To allude to my essays as personal opinion, not as fact. But honestly, an essay, in this sense, is an author's argument. While my essays express my perspective, they are informed by real experiences, historical context, and analysis. I welcome discussion, but not disrespect.
Another note, I will be talking about racism towards Black people, but this is not just for Black people to read. I welcome everyone here. An African-American woman writes this. And she is me. Zaya.
This is Zaya Unmasked, a raw, unfiltered exploration of the issues that haunt my mind daily. Let's begin, but be prepared. I don't sugarcoat the truth.
