"Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong." ― Lao Tzu

"Imi, I love you." Dragons are people too, but many seem to overlook the fact. In the Four Realms, all full dragons are shifters, able to take the shapes of the other six sapient species as they desire. When Imi, a half-dragon priestess of the goddess of life, and Lyle, also known as Lylnetrath, a full-dragon paladin in the service of the goddess of justice, fall in love, a whole world of dragons is exposed, kindling love and community and simultaneously drawing ire and hatred. A story of some of the dragons of the world of the Four Realms, featuring some characters already known from my earlier published stories and many others who are new. This story has three distinct parts, that of Before, told in five chapters, an Interlude, told in its entirety, and that of After, told in 17 chapters. The story is followed by several short epilogues. Part 1, part 2 and the epilogues are all told in the 3rd person. The interlude is told in the 1st person. It can be read as an independent story but some of the character backgrounds are not included and thus a few details might be a little confusing, but this should not detract from the overall story. To find my earlier stories, please visit https://www.wattpad.com/user/Josephclive99 This story contains references to sex, marriage, birth and labour, genocide, murder, delusions and extreme mental confusion, and the (magical) manipulation of people's minds. It also contains fantasy-fiction parallels to racism and hatred based on appearance, although almost all the characters are dragons and are not human at all. The tale uses the words, mad, and madness, as setting-appropriate references to mental ill-health. Note that the cover image is not owned by me. Chasing Jade Original Title: 逐玉 Author: Tuan Zi Lai Xi Raw Link: Zhu Yu Drama Adaptation Male Lead: Zhang Ling He Female Lead: Tian Xi Wei Synopsis: After losing both parents, Fan Changyu's life took a downward turn. Her childhood betrothed annulled their engagement, and greedy relatives set their sights on claiming her inheritance. Determined to protect her five-year-old sister, Fan Changyu made a bold decision: she would take in a husband through zhaozhui (recruiting a husband to marry into her family). Her choice landed on a man she had once saved-wounded all over, destitute, and possessing nothing but a handsome face. They quickly struck a deal: she would take him in and provide him a place to heal, while he would enter a sham marriage and help her keep the estate. Once the family business was stabilized, Fan Changyu was ready to fulfill her promise and draft the separation letter. However, unforeseen circumstances arose. The imperial court began conscripting men for war, and her 'husband' was forcibly recruited as a soldier. He vanished without a trace. When they crossed paths again, the man lay covered in blood in a tent for wounded soldiers. His face, splattered with crimson, was still as handsome as ever, but the standard soldier's uniform on his body had been slashed to tatters. Seeing him in such a pitiful state, Fan Changyu's eyes reddened: "Don't serve in the army anymore. Come back home-I'll raise pigs to support you." The man, barely conscious, coughed up a mouthful of blood: "Weren't you going to divorce me?" Tears welled up in Fan Changyu's eyes: "I'm not divorcing you anymore. Never!" ❗️ NOT MY ORIGINAL WORK.
