The Tale of Aetherion

Aetherion the heart of the cosmos, where stars are born and gods once walked. It was shaped by eight divine beings, creators of the world and guardians of balance.

Foremost was Huuroz, the First God carefree, childish, yet unfathomably powerful when serious. Known as the Manifest of Creation, he ruled the gods and shaped reality itself, his role to balance light and darkness. Beside him stood Laynia, the tall and regal Mother of Light and Hope strict, motherly, and devoted to her divine duty. The third was Ronniz, small in form but terrifying in might the God of Fate, master of strategy and bearer of the blade that once cleaved a black hole.

These three were the Prime Gods. With them came five others:
Tiranea, Goddess of Nature;
Ignar, God of Fire;
Kaelis, Goddess of Water;
Dravon, God of Ground;
Velyssia, Goddess of Lightning.
Each ruled their own kingdom, worshiped by mortals and spirits alike.

Yet peace shattered when Huuroz, desiring perfect order, sought to enslave mortals. The gods turned against him, and Ronniz led the revolt. In the aftermath, Huuroz was defeated, surrendering the sacred Dovoria Palace heart of Aetherion, where the First Tree grew to Laynia. A weapon, the Godbane, was proposed to prevent future divine betrayal, though Nature, Lightning, and Fire refused it, fearing what it meant.

Huuroz vanished. Some say he still lingers, watching, unchanged. Others believe he slumbers deep within the world's roots.

Now, as a new era dawns, Ronniz sees a prophecy unfold three travelers who may restore Aetherion's lost harmony:

Tirami Caelith, of Light;
Dovia Gunrewlipard, of Fire;
and Lucia Lawrence, a gentle witch and guardian.

Together, they carry the fate of gods, mortals, and Aetherion itself.

And so, the Reckoning begins.

Gwyneth had always felt connected to her faith, a higher power presiding over her. That faith had shaken that devastating day those years ago, the day that went on to haunt her every nightmare for years to come. She's still trying to come back from it, to not only restore her faith in life and love, but her faith in herself. The sanctity of her spirit- she prayed for resolve. Every punch was a prayer. Every mile was a hymn. Until her knuckles bled and her knees gave. Azriel had been surrounded by darkness his whole life, a poison on his world, on his being. He exercised restraint in his every waking moment, banishing that darkness within himself. Some guessed of the strain it put on him, but no one knew the extent of it, how deep his scars ran. It was better this way, he was sure. He had always thought that if there were a higher power- which he wholly doubted- such deities must loathe him to have burdened him such darkness. He hadn't much faith in the gods anyway, much less faith that he could sway their opinion on him. But Gwyneth and Azriel did have one thing in common: the quiet fight within themselves. They only knew one way: to go about it alone, couldn't fathom letting another in. But there's a magic in finding someone who is your equal but opposite, something transforming. And frankly, Gwyneth and Azriel could both use a little magic. All characters owned by SJM in the ACOTAR series. Story takes place after the events of ACOSF. Aligns with the events in my other fic: A Storm of Flames and Deceit. I haven't finished Crescent City, so this story takes place outside of the events of those books as well. CONTENT WARNING ⚠️ Mentions of r*pe, use of profanity, explicit content, sexual content, violence, torture, mentions of suicidal thoughts and depression, mentions of self harm

*****BOOK ONE****** Set in a continent called Irevalen, where the skies are ruled by dragon-shifters - immortal beings who can take human form, but never fully shed their beast. Centuries ago, a Blood Treaty was made between dragons and the last surviving human kingdom. To maintain balance and peace, a dragon from the royal bloodline must bond with a human every 500 years - not just a marriage, but a soul-binding, deep magic deal that ensures dragons don't destroy the mortal realm with their fire and fury. The catch? The human bride is always chosen by fate. No one picks. No one can refuse. Or so they say. --- 🔥 The Male Lead: Kaelith Vyron, the current heir to the SKYCOURT throne - feared warrior, emotionless strategist, and cold-blooded dragon prince. Has rejected the idea of love his whole life. Is terrified of what the soul-bond might do to him (dragons who bond can be consumed by obsession). Is pissed that fate tied him to a weak, mortal girl. Thinks she'll break. Plans to scare her off. But she doesn't. And it wrecks him. --- 🕊️ The Female Lead: Liora Vane, 22-year-old healer's apprentice from the far southern coast. Orphaned young. Grew up with books, herbs, and freedom. Hates the idea of fate deciding who she marries. Thinks dragons are cruel, inhuman monsters. When she's taken from her village and presented to Kaelith, she fights back - hard. Swears she'll never belong to him. But then... she sees pieces of his humanity. And it terrifies her more than the fire ever did.

"You think I give a shit about everyone else in Prythian if it's your life on the line?" Azriel snapped. Eclipse's eyes watered and she looked away in frustration. Azriel reached forward and grabbed her chin forcing her to look at him. Eclipse's breath caught in her throat at the intensity of his stare. "If it's you or Prythian, I will light the fucking fires myself and burn it all to the ground." "Az-" she breathed softly staring into his hazel eyes. "No. I waited 500 years for this, for you, and if you think that I will ever be okay with spending one Cauldron damned second of this life without you from this point forward, then you are sorely mistaken." He stared deeply into her eyes. "If you.. Mother.... If you die Eclipse there's no fucking point to anything. Mate or not you are the light of my life. Nothing makes sense without you, it's all just blood and shadow without you and I can't, I won't go back to that. So if you go, then I'm following right behind." What if, hear me out, but what if Rhysand's sister hadn't been the youngest of his blood relations. What if, before her death she had been married off to the heir to the Day Court? What if they had a daughter? Born somewhere in between the day and night, a bridge between the courts. Powers from both. An affinity to control the light and dark, an intuition so keen she had never been wrong a day in her life, an affinity for magic and spells so strong she could rival her father, known by many names. Between a prince who cages her with fire and a phantom who claims her in darkness, Seraphina must decide where her loyalty, and her heart truly lies. And in Aurelius, love is just another battlefield. --- 🩸A dark fantasy romance where love is dangerous, power is bloody, and every choice can destroy a kingdom. Read now. But beware, no one escapes unscathed. Hello there! This is my first attempt at writing something, so please bear with me-I'm a bit sloppy when it comes to endings. You might find this story familiar if you're a fan of manhwa. That's no coincidence! This story is inspired by a dream I had after reading a typical romance manhwa (though I can't quite remember which one). All the double gaps means some time delay or skip. I hope you enjoy this little slice of my imagination! 💭✨ This was a one shot in one of my old account (which is not working unfortunately)
