Alex is a 16 year old boy who volunteers for his younger brother Zach who is 12 and got reaped for the 74th hunger games and he and his district partner Lily a 16 year old girl team up and win together but before that they try eating poisonous berries called nightlock meaning there would be no victor but they are stopped by the head gamemaker Seneca Crane. Snow furious with Crane had him killed due to Lily and Alex's actions
