This book is related and based of the PS5 game called Stray about a world without humans and only robots where a group of cats are left to survive. This is set back before that happened. The era of a non-human ran earth has begun. Cats have overpopulated the humans by thousands, leaving no choice but to evacuate. Pedro is a in a group of stray cats that live in east New Mexico. They live in an abandoned structure of a old bar. One day, Pedro's friend Jo'se notices more cats are starting to go missing from their gang. At first, Pedro thought some cats were just traveling a lot more often during the early spring, but then Jo'se himself goes missing. Gathering some of his gang members, he sets off to put a paw down on the tail of the cat snatcher.

They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets.
