For someone who hates change, a lot of changes have happened this past year to Annabelle Reed.
First, her mom up and leaves her, her brother, and her dad behind without once looking back. The divorce papers come in the mail three days later. She didn't even bother to write a card.
Second, her long-term boyfriend, best friend and first love Elliot Finch and his family disappear without a word to anyone.
Third, her dad gets a new job and her family has to pack up all of their stuff to move across the country, leaving their past and all of their friends behind for the country life. He tells her it's because he wants a change of scenery, but she knows the truth.
Fourth, her new school is small and completely different from her old school. Her brother Cole is strangely excited for the change, but Annabelle can't help but be hesitant about their new life.
Crushed, confused, and upset doesn't even begin to cover it. Annabelle, however, refuses to be depressed around her family. She has to be strong, if not for herself then for them. Things change all the time and she has to get over it. It's her senior year and she plans to live the full experience completely drama free and with a smile on her face.
But her entire plan flies out the window on day one when she arrives at her new school and bumps into a man who looks exactly like her disappearing boyfriend Elliot Finch. Except he's completely different, his once kind eyes are now cold and emotionless.
Is he the same person? And if he is, what happened to the sweet boy she once knew and fell in love with? Has he changed completely? Or will he always have a soft spot in his heart for her?
Maybe there are still some things that will never change.
