As best as Awsten can remember it, the first death involves hammers. It's unclear if he kills Michael or the other way around though. Being hit in the head with a hammer doesn't exactly leave you with much storage space in your skull, he figures.

Later, Michael will insist it was Awsten who killed him.

"You were the one who started this, not me," he'd say.
