Amity is a workaholic stuck-up who doesn't let anything get in the way of becoming valedictorian like her mother had always dreamed of. Despite her dislike for her mother, she still had a strong need for validation and acceptance.
Luz is reckless, impulsive beam of light that can convince a judge she hadn't committed a crime that had her finger prints all over the scene. She liked school, but done the way she wants and whenever she wants.
They were an odd pair, but somehow Luz had snuck herself deep in the Blights heart. In a struggle, Luz was there. Amity was being picked on? Luz was there. Amity is struggling with one of Luz's best known subject? Of course Luz was there, and thats where our story starts. Amity's struggle with chemistry....class.

It was no secret amongst herself that she wanted to see and memorize Luz's abs, to feel her defined chest muscles she had surgery to make flat. to recognize the peach fuzz three months of testosterone gave her.. to drown in the smoothness of her voice.
