I'll Take Care of The Rest

On the 20th of August, 2019, I lost my eldest sister very suddenly. She was only 28 years old. I was only 16- due to turn 17 two days after she died. I thought I would be buried shortly after she was. That is the truth about grief- it hurts so much that it seems that it will kill you.

Shortly after my sister died, I visited her child, my nephew. And I knew I had to get my act together for him. I am the closest thing he has to his mother in his life- and that has given me purpose. I've realised that my God-given purpose in life is to not have children of my own- but to take care of the children who are already here.

This is my letter to heaven, my message to my sister, "Don't fret about your fledglings, sis; I'll take care of the rest."
