Mona Taylor - Six Months Before the Mission The conference room was cold and sterile - a far cry from the vibrant chaos of the lab where I usually thrived. Fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting harsh shadows on the faces gathered around the oval table. Government officials, military liaisons, and a handful of senior scientists - all with agendas wrapped in secrecy. I sat at the head of the table, the weight of my PhD in xenobiology pressing heavy on my shoulders, but heavier still was the responsibility I'd just been handed. "H-1 Corp needs answers," the Director said, voice clipped and clinical. "Recent satellite scans have detected anomalous signals on Selene-9. Unknown biological activity. We're tasking your team to capture and study this lifeform. Classified. Off the books." My mind raced. Unknown life in a remote system, undiscovered species that could redefine everything we knew about biology - and government secrecy that hinted at far more dangerous implications. "We're looking at a potential biohazard," the military officer added grimly. "If this organism gets out, it could threaten global security." I nodded, already thinking through the logistics. Eight personnel, a well-equipped ship, strict containment protocols. The mission would be high risk, high reward. Failure was not an option. As I left the room, a voice caught my attention. Quiet, but insistent. "Dr. Taylor." I turned to see Gabe, one of the senior exobiologists who would be joining me on the mission. His eyes held a sharp intelligence, but there was something else - something unspoken. "Ready for this?" he asked. I hesitated. "I have to be," I said, swallowing the lump in my throat. Because once you step into the shadows of the unknown, there's no turning back.

But when the fate of the world hangs in the balance once again these four heroines receive a second chance to become the heroes that they were destined to be all along. Can they come together in time to stop a futuristic threat or will the villain prove to be too powerful all over again? EXCERPT --------------------------------------------------------------- "You think she'll take the bait?" I asked "I have no idea," she admitted. Kadima opened up the portal and we stepped through. It was the only place she could be sure would have no civilians around. The office was stripped and abandoned. It was an old, basic, nondescript building that was set for demolition. It was dark and dusty. "How long until you think they come, if they come." "I don't think it will be long before they realise. I'm sure she must have some way of knowing when the timeline changes." "Suppose the timeline hasn't changed and this was apart of the plan all along," a voice said in the darkness. "What if something as small as this doesn't change the outcome of this timeline," Mistress Mind snickered as she emerged from behind the wall. Her visor glowed in the darkness. She leaned against the wall. "Did you think something this small would be able to stop us." "We had hoped," I fired up my pendent.
