After the events of the sacrifice Elena wakes up finding John dead, her aunt Jenna dead and a day later her brother shot dead accidentally. When she realizes she truly alone in the world with the fear that Klaus will return to Mystic Falls and find her alive sinks in she decides to leave Mystic Falls behind thinking that her friends will be safer with her gone. For the entire summer Elena has been traveling and going through the Petrova family history books that Isabel left her before she killed herself. She discovers there's an entire different species of Vampires along her travels and catches the eye of Eric Northman he's over 1000 years old and becomes intrigued by Elena since she looks exactly like his deceased wife Tatia Petrova. However, when Eric learns that the last remaining member of his family is in danger from an Original dick who happens to be a Hybrid he will do everything in his power to keep her safe even asking his maker for help in keeping Elena safe from Klaus.

(Currently being rewritten) There was nothing more frustrating than being the best friend of the one of only Damon Salvatore. Finley Maddox had the sometimes-unfortunate role of being said best friend. She and Damon had been best friends since he and his brother were human. Things, however, don't always last long. Fin felt awful for leaving when she did but had done it with the right intentions. She knew it needed to be done, if not for the possibility of the town questioning her inability to age, then for knowing that she couldn't allow herself to get attached. Knowing she had to go eventually before people got suspicious, later finding out her best friend and his brother had been turned in vampires by the one and only Katherine Pierce 90% of the time, things were somewhat normal and for the two, even normal was bizarre. But Fin managed to keep her wits intact while also protecting one of the few she actually cared about. Things got harder when Damon and his brother Stefan moved back to Mystic Falls; Stefan wanting to have a bit of normality in his life and Damon, in search of who he thought to be the woman he loved. Safe to say, that although Fin stayed where she lived while Damon went to Mystic Falls, it wasn't long before Damon called her and asked for her to come help him.
