From a young age, Virginia Turner was used to anything good that came into her life not staying for very long. First, it was her father, who decided to walk out on his family, then her mother decided to hit the road and chase after him, leaving Virginia to be sent to live with her worrisome aunt and uncle in the small town of Jerusalem's Lot. Needless to say, she didn't like getting too attached to anyone that she met.
But when Benjamin Mears made his appearance in Virginia's life, she thought that maybe he would be the one good thing who would actually stick around in this godforsaken town. Until the accident that killed his parents took Ben away from her, too. After that, she started to wonder if there was some sort of curse placed upon her that caused everyone she cared about to be driven away from her and out of the Lot, the place that Virginia has yet to find a way out of herself.
Years later, Virginia is still trying to figure it out while working a dead-end job at the town's small diner, where her childhood friend comes waltzing back into her life and asks for her help on his next book. However, she and Ben will quickly realize that the quiet Maine town they spent those short years together is no longer the same, for something sinister is lurking around the Lot, in which both Virginia and Ben are determined to stop it. And it just might be what brings them closer like before and more hell-bent on not losing each other again.

But now, she had a new chance at life, and she was determined to make the most of it. She was surprised when the Cullen family offered to take her in, and Luna had always been fascinated by them, ever since her mother had introduced her to the family a few years ago. But now, she was going to be living with them, but she wasn't sure how she felt about that. Luna had never been able to fully come to terms with her mother's death, and it had only added to her depression. But then she met a special someone. He was a boy from the nearby reservation, and he was kind and funny. He also had a secret. She was shocked when she found out, but she couldn't deny the feelings she had for him.
