Raven is what is known as a Howler, a special group of individuals born with the ability to take on a canine form. Howlers are tracked by the Government and enlisted into the military at the age of 18 to act as spies, IED detection dogs, messengers, and scouts.
After a mishap with an IED in the field, Raven is discharged from the military and coerced by a military friend to act as a Service Dog for a rising star struggling with anxieties and threats. Disgruntled by the job at first, Raven soon comes to understand the worries and fears of the young star and uncovers a sinister plot against her.
