"Wyatt, please, if you were ever my friend, if you ever had even the smallest feeling for me, leave. Leave now. Please." As the sweat beading down his forehead started pooling, causing the pillow's pristene white sheats to be dampened, his plea came out in one labored, tired, breath.
Wyatt and Doc stare at each other. A silent emotion, no one else on God's green earth, could ever explain, passes between them. Wyatt weighs his options. He thinks heavily on whether he should tell his dying friend, that the woman he cherished the most, never lost their baby that night. Instead, a son was born. A son that shared the blood of the infamous Doc Holliday, and a woman who would be forgotten with time. For she wanted to disappear. And disappear she did. Doc only knew of the tragic death of his beloved and his son, who supposedly, never even took a breath.
Wyatt contemplated telling his friend the truth. He decided.
Wyatt stood up apprehensively, taking one last look at his friend.
"Thanks for always being there Doc." They exchanged knowing looks, nodding at each other.
