/// SAMENESS, WHAT WE STRIVED FOR SO LONG TO ACHIEVE. BUT WHAT IF YOU'RE DESTINED TO BE DIFFERENT? \\\

Nine months of Hibernation, three months of being awake--that's how the year goes for us. Half of us wake up tired and sore while all of us wake up smelling of either lotion or bleach. But during the nine month period of hibernation, I woke up.

And now I know why I always wake up sore and reeking of bleach.

  ⥀

Humans have always strived for equality, for everyone to be treated equal. We finally reached the point of this harmony, this level of sameness--and everyone is happy. Many, many generations later.

But what happens when, in a wold of people knocked down and stood up to be exactly alike, a person wants to be different? What if they're destined to be unique in a world of strict equality?

Nothing left my mouth as I stared at him in shock. He truly believed that I was part of this. The man, who I had lived with and served for months. The man who I had protected with my life and soul. I stood still while, as he backed away from me quickly. "I trusted you with my life." His cry pierced around the empty room. He looked so destroyed and hurt, but mostly his face portrayed rage and determation. "And I protected you with mine." I spoke back loudly. I didn't hear myself say it but I knew I did. I look into his eyes even from our distance they seemed to wallow me in darkness. "I gave you mine." My voice was quiet and cracked. His face changed only for a second before his old one took over again. He doesn't believe me. It doesn't matter what I say or do he won't listen. He will still believe I am the bad guy. Just as Kane said, we will never be equals, we will never be fellow humans. We will always be monsters to them. "Yakov, I am not the bad guy." I plead one last time. His Russian accent comes out harsh with his next words. "Your right," he pauses, "you are the villain." I stumble back as if I had just been stabbed in the chest. It was a horrible feeling. It was never good with the emotions and yet I recognize the feeling as heart beak. I barely breathe in air as I regain my posture. A battle cry from somewhere distracts me momentarily. I suddenly remember Ewan. I glare at Yakov one more time before I take off after the cries of battle. Jade believes she started the war among the human and her kind. Nothing is as it was portrayed. The lies and the truth are hidden among each other. There is is no clear good and evil. How can there be if one does not know what is right and what is wrong. She was prepared to see death, prepared to inflict death upon others without mercy or remose. She was prepared to do her job which the Facility had given her. But now it doesn't seem so simple anymore. Instead she focuses on keeping her friends alive.

I swallow hard and my voice quavers as I ask, "How can you trust me?" "I don't," he's blunt, straightening on his feet as he draws his hands into his pockets. "Then why are you telling me this?" I ask him. "Because I need you to understand," he breathes out. "And because if you choose to speak against me, even if it arises suspicion, you have no proof." He takes a step closer to me, lowering himself to my eye-level. His voice is just above a whisper, firm nonetheless, "Anything that comes out of your mouth is insignificant and, in all honesty, no one would believe your word over my own." My heart pounds harder in my chest, a string of chills shooting down my spine as his lips hover over my ear. His breath fanning my lobe, he whispers, "Without me, you are utterly powerless." A shaky breath passes my lips, my body paralyzed as I lowly ask, "Then what exactly is it that you want from me?" He sighs, straightening on his feet once more before his gaze finds my own. He holds his silence for a long moment, looking at me with eyes that I can't read or understand, reminding me that I am blind to what he doesn't say. He is stoic. "W-" "Silence," he cuts me off. "I want silence." {I Am Mustafin} My name is Alaki Bea Miller-or known in the ground above: Alaki Bea X. That is what us, the inferior, are referred to: X. In this world, I am victim to the laws and legal system of segregation by race where it is illegal to bear more than one blood in your veins. In this world, where defiance of the law of segregation is priced by the absolute punishment, he-who stands as the leader of one of the five Rings-broke every rule and everything he posed in favor of to save one girl that he believed could change everything.
