That's what I like to call it. The fault to my genetic code. More often than not, it's a curse. The static running through my blood gave me a name. A cruel, daunting label of a measly bug. A roach. That's what I am to them, to the government. Roach; the nameless monster with electricity for a sense and lightening as a second nature. It ruined my life, the sparking currents playing tag in my mind, running around and bumping into everything, shaking me loose. The government, actually. They ruined my life. My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. I should be dead. At least, that's what the government officials told me in the super-secret lab where I woke up strapped to a mattress in a windowless room...Sound problematic to anyone else? Like I told the psychos experimenting on me, I've got zero clue how I got my new powers, but I'm sure-as-shit not going to let them turn me into a deadly weapon (or squeeze me into a spangly jumpsuit). Problem is, I'm not so great at controlling whatever the hell it is I've become...Not to mention I'm on the run from my country for a teensy-weensy act of treason while being chased by a shadowy masked mute who may or may not have superhuman abilities too (but is definitely stupid hot under his off-putting disguise). Accepting the truth about their awful pasts and learning about themselves along the way. A tale of vicious creatures and thrilling adventures, as well as passion, death, and romance. Every step you take could be dangerous. Tread carefully. Everything is intentional Inspired partially by Dante's Inferno and Greek Mythology Dante's Inferno is a story about a man, named Dante, who goes on a journey through the nine circles of hell learning about each of them and finding famous icons within discovering that each circle represents a sin, going down the punishments become worse and horrific based on the intensity of the sin. Although my story is not directly linked to Dante and his journey I have used elements and ideas from the book and game and incorporated them accordingly. Have fun on your journey:) Book 1 is done so feel free to take your time, Epilogue coming as well as Book 2 with updates ** this is a bit of a long story but I've been putting a lot of effort into trying to make a great story experience. I know what you're thinking and no, he didn't pee himself. He had developed super powers. At first, he was in denial, but inevitably came to the understanding that he is now a Super, and if he has powers, he might as well use them for something other than picking up hot chicks. Now, not only does he have to deal with school, his almost non existent social life and his aggravating younger brother, but he also has to fight super villains and learn to control his new found powers to avoid blowing his cover to the world...and it is a lot harder than he anticipated. Prepare for a roller coaster ride of lame one liners and painfully awkward adolescent behaviour, along with bromances and romances, breakups and make ups, and even some cliché superhero behaviour, villains who hold a grudge, and really dorky super suits. Oh... and angry, rampaging squirrels.Complete
