Meet Layla Bertha Montgomery-Shepherd-only child of world-renowned surgeons Derek and Allison. School's golden girl: flawless grades, early graduation, a surgical attending at 22.

Months later, soldiers are wheeled into Settle Grace Hospital... with their Major General Montgomery- Shepard but she goes by Major General Rivers ,until someone slips up and calls her by her wrong name, which reveals that Derek has a daughter and she is that daughter.
