A while back, my English teacher assigned a sonnet for homework. I was thinking of doing one of the norms for a sonnet, (a sappy, overdramatic, breaking-up-in-the-pouring-rain sort of poem), but the thought bored me... a LOT. So I decided to change the perspective of the piece, and this is the result. I hope you enjoy it!

My whole life is 'have to.' I have to work full-time to pay the bills and keep food on the table. I have to finish college for a chance at a better job, no matter how long it takes. I have to manage my mom's sobriety so I can keep her out of jail. I have to keep a smile on my face, so no one knows how hard it's been. Now, I have to ignore the curious feelings that flutter in my chest whenever my devastatingly handsome new English professor, Fitzwilliam Benedict, is nearby. Of course, that's kind of impossible because I have to face his storm-tossed eyes and broad shoulders in class every other evening if I want to graduate with my perfect grade-point intact. And it's getting harder to ignore the way his thoughtful gaze sees all the way down to the truth I don't want anyone to know. Here you are, in front of the work of nearly three years of my life. To put it in the fewest words possible: this is a story about a Math teacher who is addicted to marijuana. In the thirty chapters of the story, I pit him against the most ridiculous situations I could think of, which sort of makes the whole thing comical. However, it has changed over the years, so chapters tend to differ from each other. Can't really say much more before you get into it, maybe at ten chapters or so you'll have developed an objective point of view about Fishy and his misadventures. The whole story has already attracted great reviews: „It's not a good idea to make a story about a real-life person being a drug addict, when in fact he isn't" ~Mom „The first three chapters of this story are to be flushed down the toilet, but it gets mildly interesting later on" ~Little sister „This shit's fucking amazing" ~Goldy irl As you can see, there's no reason for you not to spend an hour or two of your life and give this thing a read. Maybe you'll find some inspiration for your own work, who knows...

"It would be so easy to unbutton these silly little shorts of yours... and just bend you over the table right now." My body stiffened and stood straight up, my cheeks now the colour of cherries. I stood still, barely breathing, as he traced a finger down my spine. Then it stopped. I heard him back away. And then the library door jolted shut, leaving me in silence again.
