They told her the war would make her a ghost. They didn't say how many bodies she'd wear along the way. Sophia Chernova is a precision asset: Russian-born, forged in black sites, and reassigned under foreign command. Now, she moves through the war-torn backroads of Ukraine with a bleeding conscience. She doesn't flinch. She doesn't ask questions. And lately, she doesn't remember what mercy feels like. Partnered with Maxym Hordiienko, a Ukrainian recon specialist with a quiet mouth and a darker past, Sophia is forced to navigate the wreckage of shifting allegiances, failed missions, and safehouses that feel more like graves. This isn't a love story. It's a war diary disguised as fiction. Content Warning (CW): This is a work of fiction. It is not based on real events currently taking place in Ukraine. While it references locations and themes drawn from modern conflict, it includes fictional characters, fictional operations, and narrative liberties that may not reflect real-world accuracy. This story is not a glorification of war, nor is it intended to make the current crisis seem fictional, aesthetic, or sanitized. The war in Ukraine is a real and devastating conflict, and it should be treated with the seriousness it deserves. - Implied non-consensual sexual contact (never graphically depicted; presented only through aftermath and implication) - Physical and psychological trauma - Emotional dissociation and survival coping mechanisms - Wartime violence, including death, injury, and the psychological toll of kill-or-be-killed operations This story centers on a soldier enduring the cost of survival under pressure. It deals with dark, heavy themes, none of which are romanticized or intended to titillate. Please be aware: this is your content warning. Russia lives in hell. His father couldn't care less about him, and no matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to protect the ones he loves. Russia has always done his best for his siblings. But with his mom gone and his father talking more to empty bottles of vodka then to him, he finds himself taking on more and more each day. And he begins to wonder, how much longer can he take it? I'm bad at descriptions the story is better I swear. TLDR: Russia is a great big brother with a side of angst. Ukraine is a slightly edgy plant boi. Belarus is an absolute bean. Kazakhstan is a good boy and we love him. TRIGGER WARNING: This book contains mentions of abuse, suicide, angst, mentions of self harm, mild swearing, PTSD, and implied death. If you are sensitive to any of the trigger warnings, please be careful or just skip the parts that contain what you are sensitive to. Double warning because people can't seem to read: THIS BOOK DOES CONTAIN TRIGGERING THEMES BUT DOES NOT GLORIFY THEM. THIS BOOK IS NOT MEANT TO PROMOTE VIOLENCE AND ABUSE. IT IS TO SHOW PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF THESE THEMES AND TO EXPLAIN THEM IN A EDUCATIONAL MANNER THROUGH STORY TELLING.
