Ms. Rose

My stomach began doing somersaults. Whatever signs Victoria made signaled nothing good to come. She shut the door right after me. The energy in the room felt off. I stood next to my desk, keeping my full attention on Victoria.

"Skylar, Can you tell me what the significance of your job is?"

Victoria hummed and crossed her arms. I had a feeling it was about the meeting, I had thought Victoria would have at least been impressed. I was foolish for even thinking that. Right as I opened my mouth to speak, my cheek was hit with a hard and cold-

SLAP!!!

My glasses practically flew off my face and onto the floor. I stood there in disbelief, holding back tears. I brought a hand to my stinging cheek to ease the pain.

"You are not getting paid to interrupt meetings!"

She screeched. I flinched slightly at the sudden mood shift.

"You are here to assist me. Schedule meetings and appointments, take calls, plan events, handle confidential data, respond to emails, and prepare presentations. Pitching ideas was not part of the contract. Don't let me catch you doing shit like this ever again, you hear me?"

Despite not being able to properly see, I could "see" that Victoria was standing dangerously close. She towered over me, making this far more intimidating. With the giant ball in my throat I was unable to speak a word. I rapidly nod my head while avoiding her toxic gaze, I felt incredibly pathetic in this moment.

"You have 3 minutes to get out of my office"
