The world is not as it once was. Earth is no more. Now only New Haven remains. On this planet where the plates shift for two months a year, the country of Cressida is split in two by a major fault line.
When the wealthy weapons dealer Fallon Hemmingway and his family are murdered on their estate, Illias Abernathy is called in to do the investigation. Things take a turn when he is partnered with the cheerful, goodie two-shoes Arcelia Garcia.
Together the two make their way through the tense politics involved in the death of such an important family, a war looming in the background.
But maybe there is more to this murder than what's seen at first glance. Maybe something worse than the war approaches.
