Astrid Larsen is a freelance photographer taking care of two kids, her young son, Jasper, and teenage goddaughter, Angie Santos in a small town in North Carolina. She has definitely come a long way since high school, which, for her, was a living hell. Although she was grateful for her loyal group of friends, including someone who had always been much more.
Parker Rivera, an openly non-binary author, is well known for their best-selling romance novel that may or may not have been loosely based off of their secret high school romance with Astrid. Regardless, they now had a nice life in New York where they adopted three kids who have now grown into kind, unique young adults. Needless to say, they never wanted to go back.
But then one phone call quickly turns into a temporary move-in back to their childhood home where they decide to get a job at a new local coffee shop. One morning, they see Astrid sitting at one of the tables, looking as beautiful as they remember. The two of them catch up, deciding to spend some time together before Parker has to go back to New York.
But what happens when they not only start to learn about the lives that they have been leading since their split but also the secrets they kept from each other during their relationship?
